Kenko Pro
Is this goal and TC a good combination? Nikon D40, Kenko Pro 300 1.4x and Tamron 70-300 F/4-5.6 IS?

However, when using the teleconverter and the purpose of this is going to produce pictures and autofocus with the Nikon D40? Also, the amount of light needed to shoot at F / 8?
AF should work with the Kenko Pro 300 in the D40, as long as the Tamron 70-300mm you're looking at is equipped with an integrated motor. f / 8 is the widest aperture at 300 mm, but you will almost certainly drop another one, two or more stops for sharper results. At f/16 or f/11, you have to be shooting in a very shiny. AF is also expected to be slower. The Kenko seems to be good TC, but you need a good lens for good results – the Tamron is not one of these lenses.
