Vintage Voigtlander
What is your opinion of the Vintage Voigtlander Vito Automatic 35mm camera?
I have the intention of buying one before my travels … Voigtlander is the former trusted brand? I'm thinking of investing in a model of the 70's … is a mark of confidence?
Voigtlander is an old – Cameras were doing in the first half of the 19th century – and trust the brand. During the years that produced everything from the sublime to the mundane. After been taken by Rollei in the 1980s, which eventually went out of business in the 90s, but the name lived on, especially in cameras and lenses made by the firm Japanese Kitchen. Although I have handled a Vito, I have not driven an automatic Vito. The Vito was a nice camera, bending slightly, but it used very imprecise focusing scale rather than an accurate rangefinder and the same is true of the automatic Vito. Moreover, the Automatic has, I believe, a selenium meter. While not require batteries, Selenium meters eventually stop working, so the camera can be without a working meter and what is not "automatic." But if you like the camera and not too expensive, go ahead and buy it.
