Fed Zorki
Best randefinder cheap?
Lately I've been thinking about getting a rangefinder and classy-looking old to do a photography project. Nikon and Leica are too expensive for me. I'm thinking one of those rare and strange-looking cameras and Soviet Zorki, FED, Kiev, etc, or something like the Olympus cheap, or Minoltas retinas. I want a rangefinder because they are small and silent. I'm on the aesthetics and instantaneously (so I am not being demanding image quality) but do I have to have some control over exposure. I want a camera that will pass through moderate to heavy use. I do not really need a light meter because I've been running with her since she moved to medium format. I want it to be cheap because I'm thinking about shots on a night not-so-safe city. Does anyone suggest anything on eBay?
Canon fixed lens rangefinders are good, like the Minolta Hi-Matic. Leica Minolta matched again in the 70s, just to give you a clue. The Russian cameras are anything but quiet and range-finders often are not engaged, or have no display.
