Indeed, few things are as surprising as seeing the stars and planets with their own eyes. Any company making a new telescope knows what as they go high quality units that sell well expensive. Even if you are not an amateur astronomer, you could still consider a good unit although achieved only to appreciate the wonders of the universe.
It goes without saying that the units are strong brand, high quality materials. Depending on the model you purchase, you could very well be able to spot clear details of the heavenly bodies. Obviously, due to the quality of the units sold commercially, you can expect to pay thousands of dollars. This may not be very practical for what some people want to learn to make a telescope.
Some individuals are expected to do things for themselves, even have no money to buy new telescopes. There is always a possibility that you can still detect a good model for online auction sites. It has to be doubly careful however. Auction sites are not always the best places to buy expensive items. Although you may be able to capture a unit just a couple of dollars, who knows for sure whether you are in good shape. Some vendors can sell theirs because the product has serious problems.
The auctions are attractive because buyers get save a lot. You will however, be able to save even more if you make your own telescope. This may seem a daunting task because most people has the impression that the telescopes are highly technical devices that only experts can build and calibrate. Nothing could be further from the truth however. Definitely do not need a PhD to make your own.

The easiest way to make a telescope is to devise a unit of Newton. This is perhaps one of the simplest models to follow and is named after Isaac Newton who used it for centuries. This device base only has two lenses to collect light and direct it through the eyepiece. This is more or less the same idea easy to make at home units.
Materials you need could be a little different from what Newton used in the past. You would need pyrex lens blanks, cardboard mailer cover with varnish and some plywood. The real key to making these simple materials they are working on shaping and polishing the lenses.
