I want to buy a digital SLR camera?
and I'm opting for the Canon EOS 400D – does anyone know what lenses are compatible with this camera? Does to be a Canon lens or lenses to be a universal installation? The reason I ask is that I have found a lot of lenses of 300 mm in e-bay, which are a fraction of the price again, but none is Canon – thanks!
First let's clarify something. It is the manufacturer that matters, but the mountain. Even if performed by Sigma or Tamron, if a target is specified for a Canon mount then be integrated into the camera. Other than that, even if it is a lens that sounds good to you, but do not have a Canon mount, it is likely that there are adapters that will help the adjustment of the lens. However, this practice is usually worth the effort, because in this way is likely to lose part of the lens' characteristics (usually auto focus is lost, since the camera can not communicate with the lens on a different mount). My advice is: do not go to the biggest lens you can afford unless you know you will stick to wildlife. Fast and long lenses are usually expensive, anything under $ 500 is probably only usable in bright outdoor light. As for the choice of camera, 400D is ideal for a start, I advise you to check out the Pentax K10D. For a little more robust and have a camera waterproof powder, a stronger body. The loss in image quality is to ISO 600 and that is because the image on the K10D is made to be processed and used in publishing, so there is less processing in the camera (400D image processor makes a jpg image widely used in the edition). I worked with two cameras, and finally opted for the Pentax (my advantage yet is that I live in Eastern Europe and here we have many lens manufacturers who build private custom glass surprising for a Pentax mount, low cost but high quality).
